Web Developers make a considerable salary. It depends on what you know and how you market yourself. Specialization helps considerably (this is true for just about any profession). Aim to be T-shaped (i.e. know a bit about PHP, Ruby, SQL, etc, but specialize in JS).

I personally love JS. I started out with Java and it is taught in college a good deal, but the barrier to entry for Python, JS, Java, and C++ are very low. Give it a shot and explore. Don't limit yourself to one language because they all have something teach you and everyone has their own preferences.

I completely understand needing motivation. Just remember, nothing worth doing is fun 100% of the time. Try jotting down ideas for projects, look at projects other people have done and try to replicate them or even spruce it up to your own liking.
Programming involves looking at walls of text and deciphering spaghetti code, but the best part is the freedom to make something.

No, find something simple and try to do it yourself. Go to Codepen and check some of those projects out. Read through and find out what they are doing.
