While JS may be growing, it doesn't necessary mean that Java and other languages are losing ground though. :>

Yes it is. JavaScript is literally eating the world. It now runs on client-side (every browser runs JavaSCript) and server side (nodeJS). And also on hardware (espruino) it is said that everything that can be written in JS, eventually will be written in JS.

Dont forget Javascript can run on some IOT gadgets too. With electron and nw.js, it enable js app run natively on Pc, Linux and Ios. Phonegap/Cordova enable js app run natively on all mobile platforms.
