Is C++ necessary to learn java?
I have Java as a subject... I was wondering can i learn and understand Java without full knowledge of C++? I learned just some basics of c++ but never wrote a program! The lecturer assumed that we learned c++ in our previous semester so he mostly mentions that "you must have seen how this works in C++ so i will just explain it a little and fast" ... so sometimes I find it difficult to write a whole program..

Is French necessary to learn English?
I guess not!
Same goes for Java and C++:
you don't necessarily need to know C++ to understand Java...
prior basic knowledge of programming in general,
can help a great deal though :
and besides, you are on sololearn.Aren't you?
The java basics here are pretty comprehensive - ish...
cover and uncover the tutorials,
and you'll be just fine...
All the best!

having the basic understanding as to how C++ works will REALLY help you with JAVA. most Java syntax is inherited from C++ and i personally learnt C++ before attempting any other language.
C++ will help you build a solid foundation of programming OOP. my personal advice, learn C++ before you learn JAVA. C++ is a generic programming language which supports OOP and Java is pure OOP.
you may not need to know French before learning English, but you will surely need C++ knowledge to better understand JAVA.

it is absolutely posible, it is just easier to learn new language if you already know other language, not a necessity though. In my university Java is taught first
