with your current knowledge of java, you will have a better understanding of things. now what you should do, is apply it to a small project, maybe find a tutorial online. i do know a good programer that does tutorials on how to code games his channel is called:

if you want a 3d fps (first person shooter) he has a 34 episode series on how to do so. he goes step by step on his tutorials.

you should start learning Gui and Jdbc to make such a good project
