Does the letter 'C' in the C programming language stand for anything?

I also know that there used to be a programming language called "B" before that.

C is the successor of language B, that's why it is called C, Right after it, they were likely to introduced language D, but their programmer mind turned it to C++ (Successor of C)

Quoting from Wikipedia: 'It was named "C" because its features were derived from an earlier language called "B", which according to Ken Thompson was a stripped-down version of the BCPL programming language'.

@Sachin, now D exists @MRs Code123, C is a successor of B and C++ is a successor of C. It was designed at the Bell Labs (AT &T), and i think thats how B got its name
