How knowledgeable of Computer Networking should a back-end Web Developer be?

It depends :-) You may expect lot if networking issues to be solved by developers in a small company or team. Simply because there is no one else who can do it. In larger companies it may be different, depending on culture, structure, project type. As an example - your BE service stops responding, which is caused by some timeout while acceding db, which is caused by some strange DNS problem...these things are usually not obvious from the error messages but networking knowledge can help to reduce troubleshooting time by order of magnitude.

Sure, with pleasure @ADEDEJI_EMMANUEL, thanks again for your awesome and helpful response 😊, here it is: Major issues with back-end development in network are due to inappropriate configuration or lack of regular checks for configuration error. I major in computer network and security before delving into programming. As a backend developer you need to know some troubleshooting commands in windows and Linux in other to prepare for the unexpected and also help with organization network infrastructure.
