From the perspective of cyber defense (with development inside), I have not been a fan of the extortion code class. Extortion works because people may be willing to compromise one thing for the sake of another... a bit of a vague concept when it's happening to 'not you'. Want to know what it's like (don't do this, right?)--Easy. Remove your storage and--right now--smash it with a rock. Everything you kept, maybe all the special data unique to you: it's gone. Were you ready? Can you recover? Do you start over? Suddenly a little more real, isn't it? That pause--when faced with instant, permanent loss--that might be a problem. How then do you engender a society that is invulnerable to extortion, or survivably resilient against it? What is the ultimate outcome of ransomware? I blame it on Cryptocurrency. Here's my amature simulation of what I think it looks like once you're attacked. https://code.sololearn.com/WHIUz0X8E60e/?ref=app
