Why do I feel that the challenges here are like competitive math game?

I'm not good in fast math calculation. But some challenges have looping with math calculation in it. I need at least 40 seconds @_@

i only did challenge once here and was highly disappointed with the amount of math presented when I thought the questions would be soley based on what was presented in the course. Although I agree with Quantum that it is important I felt it was well beyond the scope of this app. If I wanted to learn linear algebra I would get an app for that and do it there. Clearly I was under the false impression the purpose of said challenges were meant to reinforce the basics of the language one had just learnt. Just my opinion though

To become a good programmer you need to learn to solve simple computational mathematics mentally and fast before being able to code them. At most programmers struggle to actualize the indispensable algorithms for their program. Learning computational mathematics is like learning to run, you don't try running without learning to walk first(learning basic computational mathematics)

Abdul, the problem is that many math questions are made to be confusing. Also, math is not the point of this app, there are other apps for that.
