How do I begin learning how to code, but with small knowledge on how coding works, and with a goal of acquiring a forensic job

I just want to know how to code for three purposes: It may have to do with my future dream job, I know a little on how coding works and what it's for, and because it's going to have a lot to do with my dream job of forensics. I know, a guy with a goal of one day having a job that involves a lot of contact with dead bodies, but I've got to admit my huge interest in science, justice, and chemistry!

Hey, whatever works for you! I'm not going to throw stones, a few years ago, I was working toward a life of playing guessing games about stellar corpses. As for learning about programming to chase your dream, do you know what type of thing you'll be programming? Or will it be more along the lines of being comfortable with and having a grounding in computers & programs? In the general case, I'd suggest involving your code with your other interests. How about a program to solve for some reaction rates (for a c/python like project) or a web page collecting your favorite reference links, if that's more your style? Start with things you know, so you can get comfortable with the logic and constructs of the skills, then you can extend them to help solve the meaner stuff you need backup on.
