Privacy here is not what I need most but I to be able to contact one.

private messages open a way for abuse. it is easier to moderate when in public to everyone.

In the past the comments could not be ordered by date (only by vote) so it was hard to follow a conversation. now this is solved so Private Message is not necessary any more in that respect.

I think the disadvantages are far greater than the benefits.😟

@wilson bol : if your comment is for someone specific you can prefix with '@name' (as a convention)

With millions of people using their free content, with literally anyone being able to use SoloLearn, keeping everything public helps the community moderate content. Keeping everything in the public Q&A/forum style keeps everything focused on coding and learning. Private messaging just isn't necessary for this site's purpose(s).

It'd cause a lot of new problems, but I do believe it'd create new opportunities too. The problem with it being not private isn't too hard to fix. Just gotta enable the mods to look into them if needed. I don't think anyone would complain if they were able to, because if you use it well, you'd talk about codes anyways.
