Why still learn java if you have Kotlin

hopefully this sololearn community has new things to learn for more programming language

Java is still main language for android programming and for many softwares. If android studio added support to Kotlin it doesn't mean you have to use it. For second guy, java is not javascript, and it isn't used for same purpose like js. They are completely different independent languages.

why not ? Kotlin is more mature and productive ...

because kotlin is a jvm language, you don't get around learning java earlier or later

I didn't said you shouldn't use Kotlin. People should use what suits them most, but it doesn't mean that Kotlin is better than Java or vice versa. Thing is just that android studio added support to Kotlin, it is just another language you can use for making apps now.

I don't know what Kotlin is but I'm learning java because my dad is a programer and he uses java script
