Which mainstream language would be hardest to learn for a beginner: c,c++,fortran,c#,java,php,javascript, haskell,perl,vb,ada?

If you love a challenge, I would highly recommend C++. If you can understand the concepts from C++ you would develop the ability to learn any programming concepts quickly.

There's nothing hard starting with the C languages, really.

My bet goes to Fortran. That was what my dad used back then when he was in university.

From what I recollect, Fortan was more difficult to learn and was certainly more difficult to use on a mainframe - long forgotten. What is the point of the question​?
