python is a general purpose scripting language. it can do probably any computer task you can think of; automate tasks, backend web, programs, games, apps, ai, etc

although in my opinion it doesn't excel at any one thing except being easy to reach to beginners, and making working things quickly. I recommend it since it's easy to learn, has many resources, and many opportunities.
