Android Studio requires knowledge of Java, XML and other special Android syntax.
So, learning Java is necessary.

I made an app using AIDE for Android on my phone. It also required the same Java & XML processes to get the final product.

Java is the primary language for Android.
I myself am not an android developer but couple of my friends are and ALL of them use Android Studio except one, which is an EXPERT in C# and uses Xamarin. i asked and they said "any environment which YOU are comfortable with. its not a matter of popularity".

i have a good experince in C#,and it seems that xamarin familiar to me,and i found that java hard to develop
