Can I use Python to analyze the video data?

Question

I want to analyze the video record data for insect behavior like mating, chasing, eating, etc. So the individual of insects may be record as one dot that moves in a area.

I have learnt Python so I want to use Python to resolve this issue. Does anyone have analyzed the datas like this. Or does anyone provide any advise for me?
