I prefer notepad++ because it's free and it colors parts of the code like the sololearn code playground and it can be used with most outher languages as well and you can get plugins that make it much easier ↓↓↓download it here http://j.gs/9Bvp

May you can try with CodePen.io, I'm discovering and sounds interesting, it's a real-time-process web editor for complete web projects (html, css and js). If offline, same oppinion as Chessy Game Studios, notepad++ is a good choice :)

I prefer WebMatrix 3 (free), but I've heard many people enjoy Brackets (free). WebMatrix has a lot of stuff built into it, such as being able to host your own web server from your PC, which I find to be very useful when developing outside of a production environment. I've used both, and you can't go wrong with either, it just depends what types of features you're wanting/expecting.
