It only lets me type 2 characters?

its only letting me type 2 characters.. am i doing something wrong ?

I think you mean Q2 or Q3:

Q2: ...create a string *containing* a double quote (emphasis mine)

Q3: Insert something that makes the string you are editing print like the string shown above the one you are editing.
