Are there any major versions of HTML that have yet to be released?

Will there ever be HTML6 or maybe even HTML7?

HTML5 has taken years to get as integrated as it is, and all the features are still not in every browser. It is pretty safe to say we won't have to worry about HTML6 for some time(read 5years or more).

Well HTML 4 wasn't bad by any means, 5 mostly brought the functionality up to a new level. You have to remember that HTML was originally designed for document formatting in the web's infancy. Tables were designed with the intent to hold data, images were fewer, audio was downloaded only and it took forever, and video was right out. Then as the web took off people wanted their sites to look better so designers got creative and started using tables to format the pages, images got used in new fancy ways. While HTML4 would support some video and audio nothing was standardized. HTML5 is a highly well thought out improvement over its predecessors. And unlike programming languages needs a greater support structure that it can't simply demand. Change is much slower.
