Python has a very large scope so I would also recommend you to go for it. As of 2017, It is the best language among programmers. It is used by many high-tech companies including Google and NASA. It is used in development of AI. Due to it's simple syntax and many other properties, it's getting more and more popularity.

It's a high abstraction language, higher so than java and requires very little compiling. It's capable of doing pretty much everything. From software, data analysis, websites, etc. It's even possible to make apps for android now using Python. So it's scope is quite massive. The only consequence from this is just a bigger impact to performance (not huge), but larger than lower level abstraction languages (which is obvious). As for if you should learn it, that's more of a personal decision.
