@Michal: Sound very similiar to my experience. I had a 286 that ran at 8mhz with a turbo feature that boosted it to a whooping 10mhz. It had a 20mb Hard drive, ega graphics and 2mb of ram.
It was awesome!
We used xtree gold mostly.
I accidentally formatted the hard drive when I was 11 and had to fix it before dad got home. I did it but he knew anyway because i didnt reinstall all the software.. geez i got in trouble.. but it did ignite my passion for computers

Whatever I had, it was equipped with a single-core Intel Pentium 3 processor, probably running Windows 95. Cutting edge technology. I was too young to even ask about other specs, and thought a computer was all about its CPU.

I had 286 in 90s. I had to write "vc" to get in. It means Volcov Commander. It was funny for me than Every friend tried to write "nc" like norton commander and it did not work.
One day I deleted autoexec.bat, command.com and config.sys by mistake, so it was the end of the PC.
I remember that it had a lock and it was able to unlock by a metal key. There was turbo button and its light was shinning every time a was on the pc.

80486 @ 120Mhz. Near its' end, I remember I couldn't play most of the games on the market, because their minimum specs were Pentium @ 133Mhz, and I was 13mhz sort. Which is why I was so thrilled when I finally got my new one... Intel Celeron @ 400Mhz! 20 years later, even my mobile is way faster than that! :-D

My first computer was a Mac G3 rev A. It was a nightmare to upgrade. I got it for my graphic design class.
