Check out Heroku it helps a lot for Rails. The MVC is an important and complex principle, look it up it it's modern, but not new. It is used in desktop apps, Rails, Django, React, Angular. When you use a framework, even if the language is pure and simple like Ruby, the system will contain hundred of files developed by who knows how many people. No one understands it all fully. I just wish one could just insert little snippets of Ruby like javascript in html...
