You can say that c# is the advanced version of Java language. Microsoft uses c# to make Windows. Both are good languages. It's wrong to say that one is better than other because both are good in their own field. So for Laptop and desktop c# will be preferred more and for mobile phone Java will be preferred more. You can take a simple example. Suppose you have to choose from two phone, one is of Microsoft and other is of Google. Which one will you prefer? of course Google cause you get more apps on it. Similarly for Laptop, you will prefer Windows other than chrome os because you get more software on Windows.

It really depends on what you'll do. If you want to make simpler programs or apps for phones, go with Java. If you want to make somewhat more complex programs on PC, go with C#. This doesn't mean that you can't make complex programs with Java, nor does it mean that you can't make apps for phones in C#, it means that these languages are made in different ways, making them better for different occasions.
