XP system is the heart of Sololearn. Example : Change the challenge XP system from 5 XP to 1 XP and there will be an exponential decrease rate of number of challenges played in a day.

At first when i started using SL i was unaware of the xp system and so i was inactive too.But when i took the xp thing seriously, i really got addicted to this app. So, i think, without the xp thing, sl will be confusing, and will only be yet another app on the playstore that teaches u programming. That's it!

@VINNY : after all we are coders ! we want our codes to be published and liked ! if we have no followers then there will be less chance of liking our codes and making them better. so the followers should be there ! :-D

I think less people would use Sololearn, since they would have less of a reason to come back. which could be a good thing in a way; less server cost for Sololearn.

I joined SoloLearn about 2 days ago and I'm using it about 3-4 hours a day. Yesterday night, I was using it till 4am. Why this doesn't happen with other apps out there for programming? Because SoloLearn has a sense of competition. My friend, the night before yesterday's, didn't sleep at all cause he wanted to beat me on level. So removing xp will lead in many users not opening the app ever again. XP is the main driving force in the app.

Fact that there is xp for challenges changes really much. You have more motivation being able to compare to fellow coders. Those provide you quick reviews, so beside that it would looks like flashcards

@Vinayak Agrawal for me, it's the likes/followers that keep me using the app. not sure how many share that view.

if sololearn removed the xp system, i imagine many people would log off as nowadays all some people really care about is the xp without ever making a code or contributing at all. though some prominent users have so much xp beyond that. even i admit its pretty fun to gain. i think it would be beneficial for those who stay, really. many questions nowadays how to farm xp in different ways. while its fun to gain xp, if you removed it, many people can focus more on learning & making codes. you could even still be doing challenges, just no xp. $_$ another question too: how would you feel if followers were removed along with xp? not that it makes a difference for me, i wonder how it would affect some users. 🤔

@Apoorva 35-50% of challenge users and 42% of off topic posters do not add up like that. If illustrated as a Venn Diagram, the area of intersection between the two categories would be huge. i.e. A lot of off-topic posters are also existing challengers. The figures may not even add up to 47%. That said, off-topic posts are usually created by same users periodically, so you will want to deduct that figure off the users again.

In better wording: Non-related posts should only be allowed when we have a specific section dedicated for that. SoloLearn has given some leeway (which I don't exactly agree with) for off-topic material to exist within Q&A. The only solution to this would be to restructure Q&A to consist of different sections, as pointed out by many. There should be a place and a time for everything - i.e. Not everything fits within one place and one time.

yes! i can agree with that actually. if there wasn't an upvote system / comment system as well i'd be really sad... also we need a form to get feedback as well, and followers have an easier way of seeing your code now that i think about it. sometimes, the rapid climb in xp aids in getting you followers, just being a contributor and coder is enough in general but a means to feel proud of your work is good no matter what way. its really something to think about ^_^

There is no SoloLearn without XP mate ! 85-90% audience are alive because of challenges and networking. Very few are there who are here to just learn basics of programming.

@visph @Apoorva 85-90% of percentages are made up with no basis.

Just to clarify one thing. 100% of the threads currently existing in Q&A conform to the Community Guidelines. As an overseer I assure you not one escapes our watch for more than 24 hours. If 85-90% of the content in Q&A is really unrelated to either SoloLearn community or programming as claimed, I challenge you all to link them here. I will personally remove them.

@Visph Ikr. As much as I would like to remove them, they technically conformed to the guidelines and are related and appropriate, so those would have to not count. However, threads which are pure spam and unrelated still exist from time to time, just not for long - That's the point. I still don't think SL has anything to do with someone's birthday, but it was better to have a huge thread dedicated to birthdays than to have multiple birthday threads scattered around the place - This enables us to link and remove scattered instances, e.g. Birthdays, achievements.
