PHP is the better way to handle user informations, like passwords, because it works in server-side(is executed on the server, not in the user's browser as JavaScript).

JavaScript can do a lot of things with Node.js, which can also be handle by PHP but consuming a lot of memory from the server.

Learn both languages and you will be victorious! xD
