Curious if it is worth gaining platinum

If you mean will getting the Platinum badge help you get a job, probably not. But it might be just enough to keep you interested in learning that next little thing! And it might be in the back of your mind just enough push you to the next little thing that you need to learn, who knows. I wouldn't worry too much about the points just have fun, learn when you can, help somebody else when you can, and once again but most of all have fun while you're doing it.
