Why do somebody decline a challenge?
I cannot understand those, who decline a challenge... Even if you loose, you get some XP by knowing 2 or more answers. It's not too hard with just a little practice, and if you decline the other will loose the XP-s, which he or she would get for the good answers. I just can't see a reason behind it :S It's even better if you time out from it.

His house might be on fire, or he just broke up with his other half so he isn't in a mood to do challenges with you whilst not wanting to keep your challenges pending for too long. He thinks it would be a better idea to decline your challenge and free your challenge slots, instead of letting it expire after a day or so while you wait in frustration.

sometimes you lose some co and some people might just not want to

I have actually never declined any, but I actually think it's due to fear of losing or maybe try to evade the risk of losing xp in case of a loss

if you're a high level and a low level challenges you, losing drops xp by alot. I don't decline challenges but im sure its just a respect thing because I wouldn't want to keep somebody waiting either

Because if you are a higher level, and someone that is a lower level than you challenges you, if you lose, you will actually lose XP. So if I am Level 10, and somebody who is Level 2 challenges me and wins, I will lose quite a bit of XP. You will probably lose 24 or more XP in a situation like that.

It's their personal problem.
Maybe they are on a streak and don't wanna break it.
