What is "Semantic HTML?"

Semantic HTML tags are all the tags that add meaning to an element, rather than just modifying the way it looks. e.g. <b> is not a semantic tag, because it doesn't add any meaning to its parameter. It just changes its appearence whilst, <p> is a semantic tag, because it states that the parameter is a paragraph, thus adding meaning to it. It indicates that the text between the tags has to behave and to be considered in a certain way
