Why are a small part of people programming in ruby?

very nice maybe a py interpreter of ruby will make a smash who knows ...

ruby is nice, very nice but it's very unpopular as well 1 uses of it are not popular enough, so no need felt to use it 2 maybe it's readeability affects it - compare to python it is not used for web dev only, there are desktop apps that use it so to interact with them you need ruby but maybe those are rare

Also, after viewing some stuff on Google trends, it appears that Ruby on rails was very popular for web development, which it still is, but not as much so.
