Which packet PHP and SQL to chose ?

Question

There was a day PhpMyAdmin and Mysql was the default free combination. You could download them along packagets like XAMMP en WAMMP. Nowadays there can be some doubt about it. MySQL is in hand of Oracle and the fear exist that they will delete or not more support it after a while. You have other tools like MariaSQL and Adminer. What could be the best choice ?
