- Better transparency
- Browser optimization is improving
- Can be changed easily if you know SVG code
- Smaller file size compared to large PNG images / GIF animations etc

Because:
- is used to define vector-based graphics for the Web
- defines the graphics in XML format
- graphics do NOT lose any quality if they are zoomed or resized
- element and every attribute in SVG files can be animated
