All of them will add a bit to what you're learning.

1) Problem solving, will teach you how to solve problems once they arise and even possibly foreseeing problems even before they are there.

2) Contests will teach you how to work with speed, and find efficient ways to write your code.

3) Learning Programming Language, by learning what the Language is capable of doing will help you knowing the cans and cannots. This will most definitely give you new ideas and let you have more control over your program

4) Following a syllabus will help you stay on track, people don't always like following a text book because it limits your creativity, but it is definitely needed for you to stay on track and teach you more about things you don't know.

There are a many ways to learn programming, but these will definitely help you in the long run. So do them all!
