I want to work as a Ruby on Rails Developer but I have no commercial development experience yet. What's the best way to find my first job in RoR development?

I graduated aged 30, so I didn't want a junior developer role as they pay peanuts. So, I got a job as a software tester. I just explained to the interviewer that I want to use it as a stepping stone to development. I gradually learned how to automate tests and now I regularly pair with devs to write product code too.

So, yeah, become a tester first.
