Hypertext is simply a text with a link to some other content. For example, if you click on a button in a webpage, you will go to another webpage i.e. some content of the former is linked to some content of the latter.

Hypertext is text displayed on a computer display or any other electronic devices. For Understanding, Try writing only ABC in a HTML file without any tags(even without <html> tag), it gives plain simple ABC on running this file on browser. Now, we add markup tags (like <p>, <b>,<i> and many more) just to modify how this text is displayed on screen. HTML simplified.
