You get this feeling once you grasp the very basics of a programming language. As soon as you write your first application, you start building plans of how you will write your operating system, AAA-game or general AI, you think you're the greatest programmer on the planet, if not the greatest then you'll definitely become one. But the more you learn, the more you see how much there is yet to learn. So you continue developing your skills, choose some specializations, abandon stuff that you don't like, and after a while, stop thinking about how good you are, and concentrate on what you can and want to create. Still there are ways to evaluate yourself. For example try some tests (there are plenty online), try creating something you want to create, read some open source code, see if you able to understand the projects people are working on. Or maybe a real good coder will come here and tell us both the answer. Because I'm definitely not a good coder, so what do I know about it.

think of any project -> start the project -> can you do it on your own or do you keep asking others and google stuff? good coder : bad coder.
