Is nodejs just a fad technology?
We have seen many technologies come and go, sometimes even a few with moderate success. But nodejs is different, no. it is dependent only on js to do the servers job. I have tried it, it kind of simplified a thousand things but, is it here for the long run.

@Navardium - just sharing my personal opinion đđđ... only time will tell - I do remember times when we thought Assembly, Pascal, C and Basic were more than enough for anything you might wanna do with a computer... Obviously we were all wrong đ

JS is spreading widely, mostly in my opinion due to the community, these days you can do almost anything with it (except system programming), so I think it's not only gonna slowly replace PHP as backend but might also hit Java as multy-platform language thanks to technologies like Electron and Cordova đđđ

I don't think it's just a fad technology considering the way people are porting to it. node js is here to stay and it might become the standard for backend programming

It's pretty stable and trending.
No interference with other programming languages.
Each one has it's own benefits.
@Nikolay Nachev It might not replace PHP, nor anything else; I personally don't view them as competitors.

@Nikolay Nachev I think that they lost the competition mainly because they were competing in a specific category and languages such as pascal and delphi didn't improve respectively as time went on; so they got underrated.
I'm not saying PHP or even JS libraries are here forever, in my view, they will hopefully be trending for a while; like it or not.
And that's mainly because they are both in active development, responding to solutions and issues. They're both popular and constantly updating/improving. (benchmarks will be backing my words: Latest Node.js and PHP comparing previous versions)đ
