I'm not at home, but my rough setup is:
::::HARDWARE::::
GFX: ATI GDDR5 RX 480 8GB
RAM: 16GB
CPU: 8-core 4.1GHZ AMD-8350
Storage: 500GB SSD and 1TB HDD
PSU: 750w
WACOM Cintiq (for drawing graphics)
HTC Vive VR Headset (high-end VR gaming headset)
::::SOFTWARE::::
Windows 10
Centos 7
Visual Studio
Eclipse/NetBeans
Unity3D
PhotoShop
AutoDesk Maya
Blender
Graphics Gale
That's basically my setup. I use it for both gaming and for game development. I've been focused a lot around VR development as of late, so already having a high-end VR headset works out great and makes it a lot easier to test things out. If you enjoy drawing/graphics, I highly recommend investing in one of the WACOM pads/tablets, the one I have is great, almost like being able to draw on paper.

@Aaron Oh, I love it man! The direction that VR is taking right now is really amazing, and it'll be as mainstream as smartphones before too much longer; though still a few years off if I were to guess.
As for the WACOM, the one that I have displays the screen on the pad so you can draw directly without having to look up between it and the monitor. As well, it has various degrees of sensitivity, so it adjusts the brushes based upon how much pressure you're putting on it. Compared to the ones I've had in the past, it's really responsive and I don't notice much of any lag between my drawing and it registering to the screen, which is a huge plus.
I use Unity 3D and C# for the games that I make, including my development in VR. Although I'm an "upcoming indie developer," for now I still have my day job to pay my bills, and that's where Java comes into play for me. I create a lot of software for the company that I work with, and the latest project I've began with them revolves around Java, so that's where I've been putting a lot of focus as well. Honestly, I'd pick C# or C++ for gaming sooner than I'd ever pick Java, although Java is capable of it. The reality is that I'll be using Unity 3D and Unreal Engine more than anything else for gaming, and since they use C# and C++ respectively, I don't have time to focus on gaming with Java, but it may be something to do for fun one day.

@Netkos that's sounds so cool. Could you give me an example of how you'd use the WACOM pads? Also, what languages do you use for VR development? It sounds like you use Java for something based on your use of Eclipse/NetBeans.

@Andika fair enough! notepad++ is so lightweight but also so feature rich and free too! I have also used a shareware program called Textpad, but still prefer notepad++

@Faisal How long have you been a Java developer? Have you tried using IntelliJ and if so what are your thoughts?
