Does anyone work as a freelancer?

We all know the current situation in the country. "No money, but you hold on." Actually the question is whether to try to go into freelancing? The question is certainly specific, I work as an electrical engineer. Salary is 385$ a month. Programming was a hobby, but I would like to earn a sandwich with caviar and butter. I think many will understand me. Which direction to choose? There are many articles on Habr, but I would like to hear answers here. I will be grate

Before going into freelancing you must have a certain portfolio showing potential clients the value of your abilities.

It turns out you need to either participate in open projects, or become a developer of free software?

Well if your into web development for example you could try building some websites like your own blog to find out if your good enough yet. If your into game development make a Java or C# game for android for example. You can the show these projects to potential clients when you feel save enough.
