I'm not really expert on game dev but Wave engine seems to be the most popular at the moment. It's a C# based engine. You can search their site and see if you'd like to try it.
Generally - if you want to make a game, you should focus on finding good engine, not good language. Wave seems solid and is cross-platform so if you like it, then learn C#. If there was any other engine you would choose, learn language the engine uses. Simple. :-)

Open GL is renderer. But when you use engine you usually don't have to work directly with renderer. So use engine.
