How does Akinator work?

Question

Hey this question is maybe a bit hard to answer, but does anybody know how the Akinator works?
Is it using a huge database or searching in the internet or why does he know so many persons?

Ok then it isn't that good, but when we answer something wrong, we can still get a correct answer, this is something incredible!

from what I recall, it's done via crowd sourcing. If you guess something that it can't guess, it asks you to add it to it's database. no complex ai or algorithm to my knowledge, just a large database made by users trying to outsmart it
