The shoe must fit! On sololearn challenges you rather learn reading code than coding yourself. So you need some discipline to do some coding. Otherwise you are platinum but actually not able to write even a 10-liner.

Yes, no doubt. I have learnt html from many other resources too but it is the most basic and appropriate place for beginners and could help you to improve by simultaneously coding and questioning after learning each part of the language you are learning.
