Can html5 runs without <!DOCTYPE HTML>?

but the attributes still contains html5 attribute

yes but the extension of the file is must to be .html in these cases. doctype just tells the browser which file is it text mime papi or html image svg. sometime file without extension is left.

yes it can work without it but HTML helps it to identify the contents and the type of images and file as well.for example HTML has only two contents the block and inline contents model while HTML has seven .
