Lots of. The question is what is your story :) Data scientist role requires being strong in mathematics, especially linear algebra and statistics. Only then you will understand the libraries for Python, doing this. A good introduction to machine learning is the recognized online course at coursera.org, made by Andrew Ng: (subtitles in several languages) https://www.coursera.org/learn/machine-learning I'd start off with this and later decide how good you feel in this field. Later on, you have a whole portal devoted to data science learning at: www.datacamp.com -- just choose your path in either Python or R. Finally, it is an applied art/science -- you have to practice and read new material in order to grow :)

Data Science, if you ask me. Data mining, machine learning algorithms, deep learning and neural networks and artificial intelligence "golems" đŸ€– Internet of things and creating a universe of communicating, "self-aware" gadgets and equipment is also cool.

Depends what field you want to pursue. Do you have a particular specialty you want to focus on? Networking? Scripting? Pentesting? Security? Web? Applications? Databases? Data mining? Machine learning? AI? IoT?...
