Depends. If it's a CNC mill, you're going to use different code than a grocery store. Companies generally don't mind (and often prefer) you research them -- it demonstrates you're interested in them.

For example, look at the company's employment / careers pages, try to find them on job sites, download and try their apps, visit if you can, call / write and ask...

If you're interested in a certain category (games? what do you think you'd like to do?) you may be able to narrow it down that way too.
