the reason is because USA startups want cheap code for their apps, and apps on phones use java. they're outsourcing to India. thus, there is more demand for java in India.

really, java has way more jobs than python in general. python is semi restricted to backend programming, machine learning, and science job wise. java has a lot more variety (at least when it comes to topics, you'll still be making apps)

python can do anything java can do, it's just that python is worse at graphics and phone app building. I'm not making a reccomendation python < java as languages. reread the question. he said for jobs in India. if he said he didn't care about jobs, I would have recommended python depending on what he wanted. job market is better for java than it is for python, that's all.

I understand what your saying. I don't mean to make Java out to be better than Python (although it depends on the situation), I'm just giving my thoughts on using Java over Python and why it might be valued more in the situation.

Edit:
I will acknowledge Python's success, and the fact that it is a great language to use. However, Python (and Java, too) does have its pros and cons.

Great answer.
Python, while still useful, is very simple, and seems to be for beginners, or just for anything that you choose to run Python on (like a Raspberry Pi). Java's "variety", the overall structure, and platform independence are a few reasons why Java is so useful.

I would like to say 'reread the question'
The comparison should be as follows:
I agree upon your thought that there is more demand for Java in India but we should note the fact that the 'Number of jobs per java programmer < the number of jobs per Python programmer'
In other language, there are very less Python programmer in the Indian market as compared to Java since java been taught throughout the degree
Ex- If a company HR needs 10 Java programmer and 5 Python programmer, He might get 100 Java resumes and only 10 Python resumes
