To begin with, you should determine who you will be in the future, you can become a web developer, or be a software developer! All these two options are unique, and stand on your own, then learn a language, and in the future you will need practice, create code for yourself and in this code use all the knowledge that you remember! Actually this is the whole secret of success! Good luck to you :)

The best way is doing it. Code here, code there. Get stuck, Look for the answer. Fix your code. Then forget about it. Then look at it 6 months later and be horrified about how bad it was, and fix it. No great secret. Just practice and have fun

Find coding projects that interest you. Start easy and become increasingly more complex. For me, it also helps to just read code others have created and aim to understand every line of code in it. Then apply what I can when I write my own code. There are literally thousands or projects out there people have already posted. Once you write your code you can also compare with others. With time your code should become more efficient and 'cleaner'. Finally, find people that know your programming language and have them criticize your code to get feedback on how to make it better. Keep it up!
