Which is better: Programming on Linux vs Programming on Windows

Which OS is more suitable for what programming languages / needs?

For Microsoft languages like C# Visual Basic or anything like that Windows is going to be better. For things like Python and JavaScript HTML CSS or let's say Java it doesn't really matter. in my personal opinion if you are not using a Microsoft language, Linux feels like a better choice for programming to me because you have more control over your environment. Lastly, Macs are good for Swift and most non MS languages.

This greatly depends on the languages you're working with. I have several IDE for both Linux and windows but often find myself coding in just a simple text editor. an example for this is working with Windows and forms a lot of people like Visual Studio which runs great for Windows. on the other hand if working with stuff like gtk I prefer Linux and the simple text editor though if I plan to use Glade back to Windows. note: I run Windows 7 with Debian VM
