"Accelerated C++" told me the basics after I couldn't do much with the SL course.
And now "The C++ Programming Language" is making me advanced and teaching me C++11.

Algebra I/II for dummies

On C++ I absolutely recommend reading "The C++ Programming Language", written by its creator.

I'll add some ruby and perl books in some months to come.
