Why does SoloLearn restrict the description to ONLY 512 characters? Petition to increase the length.

So I have come to the conclusion recently that the description section for the app is WAY too short. I can't tell you how many times I have had to re-word my descriptions to fit under the 512 characters. OR I have to put as much as I can in the description and then the rest in a reply. On top of that, the replies don't have a limit of characters. So why restrict the description when it is replies aren't? This doesn't make any sense to me. Wouldn't you want all the details in the description and not reply?

Sounds good and you may forward your suggestion to info@sololearn.com. I believe they implement it to prevent spam as there's no such restriction in web version but requires CAPTCHA. Nonetheless most SoloLearners access it using mobile device.

There is actually a limit to answers/comments as well. after a certain characters you can't post. i have tried it. it's a spam check just like you can't post really long numbers like 1233...90(50 digits something) see below post for some info https://www.sololearn.com/discuss/553144/?ref=app

When a web input open to any text input, word count constraint must be applied. Otherwise J. K. Rowling could post her next Harry Potter story here.

I can completely understand restricting spam and such. However, there are better ways than to restrict character input. One main way would be to put a spam guard in place to where you can only post a new topic every X amount of minutes, and you can't post a reply to a topic you started for Y minutes. As well, don't allow replies to be made more than Z minutes between each other whether it be on the same topic or different topics. This is just one group of ideas. @Calvin - I can understand that as well. So maybe increase the description limit to 2048 characters? This would quadruple the size and see how things go. I think SoloLesrn might be surprised at Howe positive of a reaction that this would receive. And here is the main reason that I post this topic. I personally would prefer to see a person post their question and every bit of research they have done with links to whatever is relevant than all of these short posts of "here's my problem, give me the solution so I don't have to do the work or research." That is the main reason. A person is going to be deterred from posting a good description if they know they won't have the space to post it. And along those lines, there should be a minimum play length required. This would definitely help deter users from those "give me the answer so I don't have to do it myself" type of posts. (Sorry, you can tell that I am not a fan of just giving people the answer without making them show they jabber done some of the world first and understand what they are asking.)
