PHP has a bright future for sure but the language and community has to keep evolving itself to stay back in the market. Symfony 2 has come with a big change and so are other PHP frameworks and PHP CMSs trying. 
node js is big competitor nowadays... so go for it good luck 🍀 and happy new year 😄
