There's really not a "better" one, it's all personal preference. They are near identical in syntax, both are powerful languages. Java however does have the whole "write once, run anywhere" going for it. Java can run on nearly any machine but c# is somewhat limited.

It really depends on your expectations or better to say what would you like to develop. C# is great for Windows applications, Java as already mentioned is great because of the “write once run everywhere” approach. But in the end, the more languages you know the better 🙂
